Astrology Meets Mythology: Your Zodiac Sign As a Greek God

When we look for a link between astrology and mythology, we notice that they have a lot of things in common. Thanks to the zodiac, we find certain similarities in individuals that are born at a specific date and it makes it easier to predict how they might feel, think or act in given situations. Back in Ancient Greece, people used to worship different gods and, based on that, they behaved differently. Each god has distinctive characteristics that stand out from the others, and it’s the same with the twelve zodiac signs as well.

Some Greek gods are quite alike the zodiac signs and share most of the same traits, including all the strengths and weaknesses. After all, gods weren’t perfect either. That is exactly the reason why people loved them so much: because of their imperfections. In a way, people could relate to them and their strange behaviors. Here are the Greek gods that share the most similarities with our zodiac signs:

Aries: Ares

Ares is the mighty god of war, son of Zeus and Hera, and one of the most powerful of all Greek gods. Ares is known for his short temper and love for battle which makes him quite violent in everyone’s eyes. This is what people usually notice first in Aries as well: power, aggression, passion, and heat. Still, this doesn’t mean that nothing else can be expected of them. Like Ares, they are bold and not afraid to stand up for what they believe in.

Taurus: Demeter

Demeter is the goddess of harvest, nourishment, and growth. Much like the Taurus, this goddess is nurturing, patient, and an important mother-figure. She puts her family above anything else and is very possessive over her daughter. This is also seen in the stubborn Taurus who can easily turn dark if something doesn’t go their way. Nonetheless, it’s worth being around them for as long as possible, because their love is irresistible.

Gemini: Hermes

Hermes considered to be the messenger of the Olympian gods, also nicknamed “the divine trickster”. This is due to his sharp mind and cunning, but brilliant ideas. So, it’s no surprise that he is the choice for Gemini. They are both quick thinkers, friendly, and charming, but can sometimes go behind people’s backs. Hermes is also the protector of travelers which is shown in Gemini’s constant need for movement.

Cancer: Hera

Cancer is the sign that is led through life by its emotional side and often gets hurt easily. That is why for this sign we’ve chosen Hera, the goddess of marriage and family, wife of the mighty Zeus. Hera is famous for her incredible loyalty, as she never gave up on her husband, even though he was known for his unfaithfulness. Still, it is known that all who betrayed Hera faced the consequences. The same goes for Cancer – they can emotionally manipulate others, but always remain loyal.

Leo: Apollo

Apollo is by far one of the most important gods in the Greek mythology, being the ruler of art, light, and archery. With Leo, they share confidence and leadership skills as well as loyalty and a hint of arrogance. Apollo is a protector whose pride and glory still inspire many. Same as Leo, this god is passionate and bold, but extremely kind-hearted. Who wouldn’t love or want to worship someone like him?

Virgo: Artemis

Virgos are known for their analytical side and their tendency to overthink and overwork themselves. Artemis is the perfect fit for Virgo: the goddess of the hunt is known for her caution and distance from the outside world as well as her calm and peaceful nature. Artemis is the protector of young girls and provides care to all living beings around her, much like Virgos who greatly enjoy helping those in need.

Libra: Aphrodite

The sign that is most associated with the terms love and romance is definitely Libra, so no god would be a better fit than Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and love. Indecisiveness is yet another thing these two characters have in common, as well as charming personalities and occasional manipulation. But the most important trait they share is the skill to deal with people in an appropriate way.

Scorpio: Hades

Hades is the god of the underworld, the afterlife, and overseer of the dead. People usually think of him as Zeus’ evil brother, but that judgment is wrong. Scorpios also appear to be dark and dangerous on the outside but are really quite emotional once you get to know them. Even though they are known to be possessive and jealous, Scorpios, like Hades, just need an understanding person by their side.

Sagittarius: Dionysus

Is there a better choice for Sagittarius than the god of wine, ecstasy, and madness – Dionysus? This god lives to enjoy himself and make the best out of any situation, exactly like the Sagittarius does. Dionysus is the most entertaining figure in the room and puts pleasure before anything else, which makes him very irresponsible. Just like him, the Sag often neglects the consequences and just parties away.

Capricorn: Hephaestus

Hephaestus is the Greek god of fire and blacksmiths and, at the same time, the most hard-working god that ever walked on Olympus. He forged all the divine weapons and shields despite being rejected by others because of his deformed looks. Ambition, patience, and practicality is what makes Capricorn a dedicated and responsible zodiac sign and that is exactly why they are deeply connected to the god of fire.

Aquarius: Prometheus

Prometheus isn’t a god, but a titan. Nevertheless, his role in the lives of humans is extremely important. Prometheus was the one who gave fire to the people even though he was severely punished for it afterward. This humanitarian trait is why Prometheus goes along well with Aquarius; they are willing to do whatever it takes for what they believe in, even if they know that they will suffer the consequences in future.

Pisces: Poseidon

Poseidon, the god of the sea, is probably the moodiest and the most emotional of all Greek gods. When angered, he has no problem causing storms and huge waves to destroy ships and all men on them. Pisces aren’t too violent, but they often play the victim card claiming that their actions are someone else’s fault. However, they can be very wise and understanding when they are treated well, and the same goes for the mighty Poseidon.
